Sports

If you love getting outdoors and working up a sweat, you’ll be happy to learn that The Woodlands hosts all kinds of athletic events.

Serious runners will enjoy The Woodlands Triathlon in May at Northshore Park. The cost is $120 for individuals or $185 for a relay team.

More casual runners might prefer the Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas event held in October at Northshore Park, located at 2505 Lake Woodlands Dr. This USA Track and Field event features a certified 10-mile course, a 3.1 Armadillo Run 5K, and a One 4 Texas Kids’ Fun Run. Registration is $35–$70.

If you’d rather relax and watch world-class athletes from the sidelines, grab tickets for The Chevron Championship in April. This Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) event takes place at The Club at Carlton Woods, which is located at One Carlton Woods Dr. Daily tickets for the event range from $25 for grounds access to $225 for the premium St. Luke’s Health Pavilion experience, while weekly tickets are available for $150–$785. Parking is an additional $10 per day or $30 for the week.

Memorial Day Events in The Woodlands, Texas

The last Monday of May marks the unofficial start of the summer season, and you can expect fun activities to celebrate the weekend before. The Woodlands does it right with Memorial Day in The Woodlands, held Sunday night at Town Green Park at 2099 Lake Robbins Dr. This free event honors members of the armed forces who lost their lives in service to the United States.

Here, you can enjoy live music, children’s activities, and a dazzling fireworks display accompanied by a patriotic soundtrack. Admission and parking are free.

Christmas Events in the Woodlands

You won’t want to miss the annual Lighting of the Doves in November at Town Green Park, located at 2099 Lake Robbins Dr. This free event symbolizes peace during the holidays and features an appearance by Santa, fireworks, stage entertainment, and, of course, the ceremonial lighting of the doves. You can also access snow play areas with a $5 wristband.

December may be chilly, but winter holiday events are filled with cheer to warm your heart. Test your skating skills from mid-November to mid-January at The Woodlands Ice Rink, located at The Woodlands Town Center at 10200 Grogans Mill Rd. Admission starts at $12.50 for two-hour sessions.

Family Events

With more than 220 miles of trails, 150 parks, and extensive waterways, there’s no shortage of outdoor activities for families to enjoy in The Woodlands. When hunting for available homes in Conroe, it’s great to know that ample family entertainment is so close.

The Woodlands, Texas, events lineup has a lot to offer. The Grogan’s Mill Farmers Market is a great place to start. The market is held every Saturday morning at Grogan’s Mill Village Center at 7 Switchbud Pl.

Other events include Family Bingo Night at The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park, located at 6464 Creekside Forest Dr. Entry is just $5 per person, but events sell out quickly, so early registration is recommended.

Pools and Aquatics

When the weather turns warm, the pool is a great place to take the family to cool off. The Woodlands offers a network of 14 neighborhood pools and six Spraygrounds plus the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center for community families to enjoy. Each offers a different assortment of features such as splash pads, baby pools, slides, lap lanes, and more.

The pools are open daily the last Friday of May through mid August and are open Saturdays and Sundays during May and from mid-August through Labor Day. Hours of operation are subject to change so it’s a good idea to call before you go.

Admission to community pools is $7 daily for residents of The Woodlands. Non-residents pay $10 Monday through Thursday and $14 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Admission to the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center is $10 for residents under 48” tall every day and $10 for non-residents under 48” tall.  For those 48” tall and over, residents pay $12 every day; non-residents pay $18 Monday through Thursday and $24 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Residents can buy season passes to the pools in The Woodlands for $45 for ages 3-64.  Passes for those under 2 are $8 and $20 for those 65 and up. Non-residents pay $30 for ages 0-2, $150 for those ages 3 and up.

Punch cards offer multiple visits at a discounted rate. Residents can buy a 5-visit punch card to Village Pools for $30 and 5-visits to the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center for $50.

Non-residents can buy a 5-visit punch card to the Village Pools for $60 and a 5-visit card to the Aquatic Center for $100.

Music & Arts

The arts are an integral part of The Woodlands, with events scheduled throughout the year. For example, you can enjoy evening music with the free Waterway Nights Summer Series, held every Saturday night in June from 6:30–8:30 p.m. at 31 Waterway Square Place.

You can also catch summer concerts in July and August with the Rock the Row Summer Series, hosted every Thursday from 7:00–9:00 p.m. These free events are held at Hughes Landing, located at 1725 Hughes Landing Blvd.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, located at 2005 Lake Robbins Dr., is another great place to catch a show featuring high-profile performers from around the country.
